Peter D. Finocchiaro actively litigates in federal and state courts across the country in complex construction disputes, contract claims, discrimination and other employment law issues, corporate/partnership disputes and many real estate matters. He has tried several cases to successful jury verdict and has also on appeal.  Recently he secured summary judgment for his client in a substantial, multi-party construction defect case in Southern California. 

In addition to litigation, Peter handles many other corporate, transactional and real estate matters. He serves as national counsel to the world’s premier sports surface manufacturer.  He advises clients on complex commercial transactions, trade secrets, tax certificates, employment law, non-compete agreements, and corporate law issues.  His real estate practice encompasses development, tax certificates, covers restrictive covenants, Illinois land trusts, condominiums, title insurance, bankruptcy, foreclosure, and eviction. 

Peter received his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1987, and is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu.  He graduated cum laude with a B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1984.  He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois and is a member of the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District.

 His lectures include “Protecting Employers from Disloyal Employees” and “Impact of Unrelated Business Income Taxation on Exempt Organizations,” and is the author of “Legally Speaking,” Midwest Real Estate News, March 1993.  For ten years he served as a member of the board of directors of Ox-Bow, Inc., a summer school for the arts affiliated with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and was vice-chair of the Board.

Prior to forming Finocchiaro & Associates, Peter had been partner at the national firm of Rivkin, Radler & Kremer, and then partner at Pachter, Gregory & Finocchiaro.
